Authorities have also invited four individuals who will be subject to an investigation.
PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa said one of the four suspects, identified as Kenneth Isa, allegedly "supplies and delivers high-powered guns to the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG), war lords, and even politicians from Manila to Jolo, Sulu."
"In addition, Isa's group and some ASG members are in Manila since August 2016 to buy cache of guns, explosives, components, and ammunition upon orders of an unidentified ASG commander," Dela Rosa said.
The shocking part of the story was a leaked phot of Sen. Leila De Lima with the arrested gunrunners. Speculations arises pointing out De Lima as one of the protectors of the arrested personalities.
"We suspect na meron talaga ito silang contact [person] from within the Government Arsenal dahil paano ito nakakalabas itong bala na ito kung wala silang contact," Dela Rosa said.
[Translation: "We suspect that they have a contact person from within the Government Arsenal because these ammunition cannot possibly be released from the arsenal without a contact."]
The police said Isa had undergone inquest proceedings Monday. The recovered firearms and ammunition will be used by the court as evidence against the four suspects.
