GMA News TV's News TV Live identified the slain local chief executive as Datu Saudi Ampatuan Mayor Samsudin Dimaukom, who was killed along with nine others in a reported shootout in Barangay Old Bulatukan around 4:30 a.m.
Suad Adam Guiamad, 24, security guard;
Mubarak Ali Pasagui, 26;
Fajad Dimananal, 25, driver;
Nasrudin Alon, 28, blue guard;
Elmer Ali, 20, photographer;
Aladin Guiamad, 35, Datu Saudi Ampatuan LGU staff;
Fajir Madi, 38, LGU staff;
Basir Esmael Mundog, 25, blue guard; and
Haimen Anwar, 23, blue guard.
The bodies were identified by Badrudin Carinda, a staff member from the said municipality.
Dimaukom presented himself to the Maguindanao provincial police last August 7 after Duterte tagged him among officials involved in the illegal drug trade.
A separate police report said law enforcers put up a checkpoint in the area following information that the group of Dimaukom will be transporting illegal drugs to the Maguindanao-Cotabato area.
The same police report said the suspects fired at the law enforcers which triggered the firefight.
The suspects were initially wounded in the encounter, according to the report. They were then taken to the Makilala Specialist Hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival. As of posting time, it remains unclear whether the group was in possession of illegal drugs at the time of the encounter.
Relatives of the victims claimed the bodies in various hospitals in Makilala and nearby Kidapawan City before noon Friday. — with reports from Malu Manar, Williamor Magbanua and Rose-An Jessica Dioquino/RSJ/KG, GMA News source:www.newsmediaph.com
