The Commission on Elections Campaign Finance Office (CFO) is now asking the camp of Vice President Leni Robredo to explain why the names of some of her campaign donors were not mentioned in her Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE). This includes those she mentioned as selling Filipino rice porridge, also known as ‘lugaw.’
As reported earlier, VP Robredo’s SOCE revealed that during the election campaign. The former presidential sister then donated P30.8 million, and the Robredo camp declared P406 million as total cash donations. The vice president was also declared as the highest spender, spending P418.6 million for her campaign.
In an exclusive interview via Yes or No segment of ABS-CBN’s news show “Bandila” a week before the 2016 elections, then-vice presidential candidate Leni Robredo was asked as to where her campaign funds came from. She said that her volunteers were very creative in setting up fundraising programs, and even mentioned some of their activities.
“Meron kaming Bike for Leni. Merong ice cream flavor na ipinangalan sa akin at ‘yung proceeds, para sa kampanya. Maraming nagpapa-imprenta ng sariling campaign collaterals for me. Merong mga Lugawan for Leni. Kahit anong maisipan, talagang sobrang daming tumutulong,” The widow of the late Jessie Robredo said at that time.
Last month, the CFO revisited President Rodrigo Duterte’s SOCE. This is after he publicly announced that Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos supported him during the campaign. Apparently, Imee’s name was not included as one of the 183 donors listed in his SOCE, as well as at the SOCE of his party, Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).
Nevertheless, Imee Marcos has consistently denied donating to President Duterte’s campaign. She is the oldest child of the late president Ferdinand Marcos, whose burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB) has recently been allowed by the Supreme Court (SC). Since day one, Duterte has been vocal in allowing the hero’s burial for Marcos.source:www.tahonews.com
